The sand dressed FastPro HF18 pitch, at Gravesham and Wellcome Hockey Club, installed in the summer of 2019, had a short run before Covid, lockdowns and therefore no organised sport ensued. The 5 months that the three hockey clubs that use the pitch, proved a hit with the players; however, after the snow, the rain, the furlough, we were curious to see how the pitch had faired.

With the double water-based hockey pitches at Worcester Hockey Club finished, and the construction of the clubhouse well underway, things are progressing nicely on site. With the view to getting players onto the pitch once the surrounding areas are made safe, both the hockey club and Worcester Grammar School are a stone’s throw from having their pitches player ready.

The CCGrass pitch is laid and filled at Hemsworth Miners Welfare FC, with Jamie Fullarton, coach, and former player, orchestrating the whole thing.

At the time of writing Sutton United are second in the National League, one point off top, a superior goal difference and three games in hand. The chances are that they will become the second team to be promoted to the Football League with a synthetic turf pitch, following Harrogate, last season.

When Woodhouse Grove School chose a CCGrass surface for their new rugby pitch, way back in 2012, they were one of the first schools to go the “artificial” route. Now, nine years later the pitch is well established and has proven a great success.

Since our last newsletter, the double water-based pitch project at Worcester Hockey Club has made incredible progress. The first pitch’s turf has been laid this week, with the second pitch installation to begin next week. The chosen surface has been revealed as the fantastic shade of CCGrass blue.

AMI’s Grass Yarn & Tufters Forum has brought people together from throughout the artificial grass supply chain, to learn and network, for 15 years. The industry has been unable to meet in person for 12 months, so for the first time this event will be held virtually, in sessions over three half days, this May.
