CCGrass, the world’s largest producer of synthetic turf, is the latest manufacturer to be appointed by the Football Foundation to their Framework for providing 3G football pitches. After two successful Framework contracts, which provided over 800 pitches in a nine year period, the third Framework has six different synthetic turf producers signed up for the next four year period.

After months of planning, on a hot August day, Henley RFC celebrated the opening of their new blue CCGrass pitch, officially named, The Invesco Turf. With prominent members of the town showing their support, including Henley town mayor, Ken Arlett, the ceremony went smoothly, with all attendees delighted with the new pitch.

At CCGrass we have complete control over the manufacturing process, from producing colour pigments for the yarn, the extrusion of specially designed fibres, the tufting of the product, to the latex or PU backing that completes the turf. Today we want to focus on the varieties of colour.

As the world copes with the massive impact of the Covid 19 pandemic, our industry has, like many others, been affected. From January 2020, when synthetic turf sports and leisure markets were expected to grow by a combined average exceeding 10%, we can now expect to see a small drop in volumes produced, especially in the sports sector.

At 24mm pile height, Duro is very much a second generation product, designed to be filled within 3mm of the fibre top, with selected and graded sand. When laid onto an appropriate shock pad, it will provide a hockey surface up to FIN Multi-Sport and recreational tennis.

CCGrass is proud to present Rossington All Saints Academy’s new pitch. A fantastic resurface with excellent results, produced by A S Sports System, using a CCGrass surface, at the academy in Doncaster, Yorkshire. According to the local paper, the Doncaster Free Press, Rossington All Saints Academy was previously rated with a negative score.

In last week’s edition of CCGrass Turf Matters, we discussed recycling within the artificial grass industry. How in recent years, there has been a huge focus on the environmental impact of single use plastics, which has led to an increased interest and research into recycling and repurposing artificial grass beyond its initial use.

This summers project, at De Lacy Academy in Knottingley, is due to be completed tomorrow, August 14th 2020, with testing to take place next week on their new top quality football surface.

Ultimate is designed to be installed either directly onto a compacted, level, free-draining base, or with a shock pad, to provide a great football performance.

The installation at Horsfall Stadium, for Bradford Park Avenue, is due to be finished in the next few days. Installation has been smooth and decent weather has allowed for PST Sport, the specialist contractors, to finish in good time.
